The Bartlinski Bunch

" Teresa "

" Teresa "

Teresa "Fang Fang " Bartlinski

Teresa was born on December 25, 2006 in China. She was born with a very complex heart condition. In July 2010, GOD added Teresa to our family through adoption. We have been blessed with 9 wonderful children. Gods grace has woven us together as a family. Upon bringing Teresa home from China we unfortunately learned she not only needed a heart transplant but also a lung transplant. Her doctors feel she would not survive this operation. Please help us to pray for a miracle for Teresa's heart and lungs to be healed. She is a very special little soul who has touched so many lives around the world ...
I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES!

Donor Heart Was Rejected

Unfortunately, following the heart catheterization the doctors determined that the donor heart has been rejected. Teresa will be relisted at the top of the list for a new heart. She will remain on life support until Monday, when she will go through another surgery to put in a Berlin heart. This will be her 4th major procedure in 2 weeks, so the first major hurdle will be for her to fight to survive this operation.

The Berlin heart will give her 6 to 8 months to wait for another heart. During this time she will be able to come out of sedation, but will have to remain in CHOP with the Berlin heart and other machines attached to her at all times. The doctors at CHOP have never seen another child with these same circumstances, and have only implanted this device for one other child.

Please continue to pray for Teresa!! We need to pray that all other organs will remain stable and that she survives Monday's procedure!!

- Laura

So, so sorry to hear this news. We will continue to pray for Teresa! I found this site a while ago and it looks like this little went through a similar situation - heart transplant, rejection, berlin heart, transplant. She seems to be doing very well. Here's her blog http://4mykaidence.blogspot.com/

I have been following your lovely little girl's progress. I heart goes out to you and your family. She is in my thoughts and I hope she does well on Monday.

Our daughter received 2 heart transplants and I have been totally connected to your story. It has brought back so many memories of what we all went through together. Teresa has captured my heart. She has the will of many and an army of supporters storming the gates with prayer. I check your blog numerous times throughout the day - bless you for keeping us all updated. I will continue to pray for Teresa, your family and the surgeons and hospital staff. I know this child has already performed miracles in the way she has touched and changed so many lives but her work here has just begun. Sending you much love!

Dear God in Heaven, please hold sweet little Teresa in your loving and gentle arms. Please relieve her of her pain, and bring a smile to her face. Give her a chance to hug her dollies, and please, help her to survive her next surgery and receive another heart very soon so that she can return to the family that loves her so. Dear God, please hold Ed and Ann in your loving arms as well. They are weary with worry. They need your extra love and strength. See that they get enough rest and food, and make sure they hold each other for comfort. Please watch over their wonderful family and give them all extra love and care as well.
In Jesus name, Amen

Ann....
"Unfortunately, following the heart catheterization the doctors determined that the donor heart has been rejected.". Oh no!! I am so sorry. Praying now for a new heart. That it bond and flow successfully with Teresa's little body. But I have leapt ahead here. Praying--hard!!--for Teresa's Berlin heart surgery. That there be absolutely zero complications. She is a fighter, your girl. May God continuously watch over her. Six to eight months of waiting for a new heart?! I cannot even imagine. Praying for it to be sooner. Ironically, I can feel my own heart pounding....

I am so sad to hear this news and am praying for Teresa and your entire family. There was recently a news story about a little girl who lived with a Berlin heart for several months, close to a year as I recall. Then she received a heart transplant and is doing fine. Never lose hope--- so many of us are praying for Teresa.

I was so hoping that the heart would recover and be accepted by Teresa. My prayers are with you.

As Reena said, there was a program about a family who have 3 or more children with heart disease. The second daughter waited almost a year for a heart and they had her on a heart pump in the hospital - done in California - before she received a new heart. From following your posts, it sounds like you have a real "spicy girl" there and we are all pulling for her!! God bless!!

Wow - words do not express how any of us feel right now. At least the Berlin heart gives you some hope and more time. Having to stay in Philly is a challenge for your family, I'm sure. I know your lives must feel completely upside down right now. We will be praying for you. We can never understand what we face in life, but we will pray that God will give you the physical, emotional, and spiritual strength to face each day.

Wow. What news. Yikes. My brother died tragically of stroke in 2003, and he became a hero donor of both kidneys and his liver. I ask his intercession too as Teresa continues her sojourn here. Hugs and prayers from a stranger in Rhode Island.

I look at that picture of her, her little body trying with all its might, to pull through.

Hoping for a turnaround for her with the Berlin heart and that a suitable donor is found in short order.

Do you know Danny and Mary Wusterbarth? Their daughter Brea, adopted from China, had a berlin heart, then a transplant I believe. I don't know them, (or you) just remember their blog, still available but no longer active. But if interested you could find them on facebook.
Hoping for the best for you and your family. You may not want to post this, just thought it might be a good connection for you.

Such hard news to take. Sending positive vibes your way. I remember Half the Sky advocating for your Teresa. I want to pray for a new heart for her but it also means someone else must die. So hard, love your girl and I so wish the heart she does have would start working. Sending prayers your way. Hoping a new heart will come soon.

If this medical team is inexperienced in this circumstance, is it possible then to have another, more experienced, team implant the Berlin EXCOR heart instead?!?

Experience is critical in this type of surgery. Perhaps a team from Hopkins??

I am sorry to hear that this heart was rejected Laura. We all still love the Lord, we love Teresa and your Family w/ the love God has given us. If I may share a poem I wrote long ago called "Beauty."

Lovely as a flower in full bloom,
Your beauty radiates from a swollen womb,
Your gentle sweet touch warms my soul,
You give me strength and courage to be bold,
To you I give mind, body and soul,
Your everlasting beauty has made me whole,
You are more to me than the air I breathe,
It is you that gives it, freely to me,
The beauty I speak of is not of your skin,
It's the rare beauty that comes from within,
It covers over all faults and pains,
It's the only beauty that forever remains,
It's the beauty that brings together marriages and friends,
It's the kind of beauty that never offends,
What then, is this beauty I speak of,
It's a rare beauty, the beauty of Love.

And that is the *beauty* that God has shown us and we show you, Teresa and your Family. We are still praying, the Lord has blessed you.

I passed away during an allergic reaction during gallbladder surgery at the age if 14 and was infected and with a fever that should have left me majorly damaged. But I survived against it all, so can your girl! Don't give up and tell your baby to not give up either, she is wanted here on earth!!!!

May G-d bless and strengthen Teresa and all of you who care for her. May she have a refuah shlemah (complete recovery)!

(More than 35 years ago one of my sons died of heart disease at Children's Hospital, before the miracles of today were available.)

You must have every faith and belief that Teresa will come through this Valley of the Shadow of Death and go on to lead a happy and productive life.
