Today we went to Alderson West Virginia to meet Emilia's new best friend. Paws4people is a wonderful program that matches service dogs with children with special needs. The dogs are trained in prisons by the inmates. The families then travel to the prison and the child is introduced to several dogs. The dog actually picks it's new owner. The dog that bonded the best with Emilia is a 1 year old golden retriever named Mayzie. Mayzie is already trained with basic dog commands , now she will specifically be trained for Emilia's needs. In a few months we will return to the prison for her graduation and she will then be introduced into our family.

I recently found your blog. What a beautiful family! Our daughter also has a service dog/in home companion dog. We're having a few issues with him, and hopefully will have them worked out soon! Dogs can do such amazing work with children!
