We are Home

Teresa came home on Monday evening. She is slowly gaining her energy back and feeling better. She still becomes very winded when she tries to keep up with the other girls and requires her oxygen . Unfortunately the Doctors feel this is the progression of her heart/lung disease. Her heart is having trouble keeping up with her body (mostly her brain ,she thinks she can do ANYTHING). Painfully her disease is deteriorating faster than we expected. The good news is she does not feel like her life is slipping away . She was so happy to be home and playing "Princess" with her best friend , Gemma . Poor Gemma always is the Beast because Teresa insists that she is Belle. Today after school Teresa met Gemma at the door dressed in Lucy's First Communion Vail. She couldn't wait to tell her that she was going to marry Jesus!

I know I say this all the time but having Teresa in our lives has been an unbelievable experience .
When I walked through the door of the China Care Home 10 months ago and saw a tiny beautiful little girl with a crooked smile running up to me to give me a hug and saying "Mama" I knew I was in love. Meeting Teresa was a humbling experience. She has blessed our families lives in so many unbelievable ways. She is a very magical little girl . Our love and bonding with each other has grown so deep over the past 10 months . I can not imagine there will come a time when she may not be with us .
Recently 2 people said to me that they had not wanted to meet Teresa . They felt it would be too painful to know her and then lose her . I have to say this is what we too had thought before we said "Yes" to Gods Will and adopted her . How do you prepare to love someone with all of your heart and at the same time prepare to lose them . Meeting Teresa made it very easy for us . She is a very sweet, kind , sassy, strong willed ,determined loving little soul all wrapped up in a four year old little girls body .
Our families lives have been so enriched by having met and loved Teresa. She embraces life everyday no matter what the circumstances . She can find happiness everywhere and in everything from being in a hospital playing Doctor , wearing her oxygen and using the cord as a microphone to sing into ,giving high "fins" with her finny fin (high fives, she calls her small hand her finny fin ) to just coloring a picture of "her Family", she is so happy .

Thank you everyone for praying for our sweet girl.

  6. Ann and family - guys - I know with every part of my being that Christ lives in each of us. Our Faith teaches that (I've been able to deduce that we practice the same Faith - we just did Brianna's First Communion too as well as a bunch of other clues!) But in some people - you have a Priest that is a perfect example - that piece of Christ just shows....Teresa is one of those people (perfectly named as well BTW!) too!

We are so Blessed to know you guys - and while it's likely we'll never meet - we'll love y'all like we had!

Great joy that Teresa is home - she looks just beautiful!

    hugs - aus and co.

  7. So happy Teresa is home. She is such an inspiration to me. Praying she will bounce back quickly. There is not a day goes by that I don't think and pray for this sweet girl. Although I have never met her, I feel like I have known her from the very first time I saw her picture a couple of years ago. Her eyes just sparkle with everything good, kind, fun,and adventurous.
    Blessings,

  9. Talk about a child being the teacher in how to live life. Wow! Thank you so much for sharing Teresa, your family, and the grace that embraces you. With so many distressing and scary things happening around us, reading your blog is a highlight of my day. My co-worker even caught me crying after reading your post.

You have spoken about miracles and blessings often. Teresa and her life are those things and so much more. Again, thank you.

  10. Happy to hear she's back home...so much more comfortable than the hospital whether your ill or well! I know what you mean about loving someone you might lose...our daughter is single ventricle and there may also come a day for us. But the indescribable joy we receive from our girls is beyond description, and those who have not experienced it just cannot easily understand. It really is a glimpse of Heaven.

  13. Ann, still praying. And very much hoping to have news (re: what we've e-mailed about) for you in early June.

Maybe you've discussed this with your priest - but can Teresa have her First Communion? She's not too young to understand, even if she does mistake Father for Jesus still! :)

  15. I am so, SO glad to hear Teresa's back home!!!

I fully understand the comment about being afraid to meet her because the possibility of losing her hurts even more that way... But that is the price we pay for Love, and even at that it is the ultimate bargain. :-)

This is one young lady who's teaching the "grownups" all around her what life really means... I'm praying she can continue doing so in person for many, MANY years to come!

  16. The truth in your post resonates. You have stepped out in love, faith and courage to bring your little girl home...and you have been blessed with the riches that she has bestowed upon you.

That smile, that joie de vivre...she is a shining example of living each day to its fullest. I imagine that when those moments of overthinking bring you to a place you'd rather not go...that that smile and the sound of her laughter bring you right back to today...to love...to your beautiful daughter.

you are all always in my prayers...
