Update - 8:45pm

The surgery successfully repaired the left atrium of the heart and blood flow is good. However when they took Teresa off bypass the right side wasn't happy, due to being on bypass for so long in the OR. Because of this they had to put her back on ECMO. She will remain on ECMO for a few days to give the right side time to rest. The hope is that the right ventricle will come back after these days of rest.

After Teresa left the OR and went to the room, she began bleeding out of her nose, mouth, eyes, IV sites, and chest. They gave her blood to bring the clotting factor to a good spot and bleeding stopped everywhere except her chest. She is currently still bleeding from her chest, but it will hopefully slow as the clotting factor increases. The surgeon is staying nearby to watch the bleeding -- if it continues into the night Teresa will have to go back into the OR.

Teresa is not out of the woods until the bleeding from her chest stops! Please pray that the bleeding stops soon, and that after a few days of rest the right ventricle will come back!!

  2. Praying for your sweet girl. Her story brings tears to my eyes. I often tell people that I am the lucky one when they say that my adopted daughter was lucky to be adopted. In your case, I think you both are blessed (no luck there). Teresa has a marvelous family to call her own and you have a precious daughter who is fighting to get well. Continued prayers for her recovery.

  6. I am following along all day on Facebbok. Praying Psalm 91 over Precious Teresa!!! Our little Katie Grace Hua Hua's lungs were struggling severely after her heart surgery last year. She remained on the ventilator for 11 days. At one point she extubated herself and was in a dire situation. Many times it looked as though her numbers weree not improving and it was heartbreaking to see her fear and struggle. She began to gain strength on day 10 and was taken off the vent on day 11. That day was very rocky but she made it through and started making good progress. I know the situations are not exactly the same, and Teresa has alterior issues with the hear, I am sharing this to let you know that the body has an amazing ability to heal! Our little adopted ones were born and lived as fighters to survive! God is unbelievably faithful and he is The Healer! Today our Katie Grace is so joyful and always on the go and the surgery is a distant memory for her. Katie Grace and I just prayed together for Teresa before bed.

  8. Hi Laura and precious Princess! I was brought to this site after reading about Teresa. I could not but cry, touching the screen and praying for this precious girl. I will continue to pray and check back. You have a beautiful Family inside and out! I am blessed to pray with you my Brothers and Sisters in Christ for God to touch Teresa! I have two nieces aged 4 and 6 that both have had heart surgeries since about 10 and 12 mos. We werent sure they'd make it but God has touched them to be healthy and full of energy and I am trusting God to do the same for Teresa! Know that you're not alone, Christ is your Rock, He is your Savior, Provider, Protector, Healer, He is the Giver of Love and Life! Praying for you,

  14. Praying fervently for healing for Teresa. She stole my heart this morning on the Today show and I had to record and replay the segment for our beautiful daughter from Russia. We will celebrate 16 years of her being in our family in September and with God's grace she will turn 20 in December. I pray God works a miracle in Teresa's life and restores her health. I know what a blessing she has been to you and what blessings your entire family has been to her!

  22. We have followed Teresa's story as our families are linked by the friendship of our little granddaughter Ping, and your sweet Teresa. My husband, Dennis, was blessed to accompany his daughter, Tanya, to Half the Sky to help bring Ping home. Your Teresa smiled up at Dennis and placed her little hand in his and he was smitten! We have been praying for Teresa and have helped to get the word out to many others. We prayed for her this morning and smiled when there she was on "The Today Show." Dennis came home at lunch and as we checked your blog, we were listening to K-Love and there, once again, was Teresa's story and plea for prayers. We too believe in miracles and are joining your family for her little body to heal so that the world will continue to be blessed with her sweet spirit. Love from Dennis and Donna Friedrich; Eugene, OR

  56. Laura....
Hi, I am Raelyn. I have a huge "heart" regarding two things concerning Teresa's story. One. I've always loved China and their culture. That being mentioned. I have also somehow dreamed of adopting from China. Perhaps someday? And two. I have a huge "heart" toward medically fragile/"special needs" children!! I was born with multiple birth defects. They were all surgically repaired. I now struggle with learning disabilities.
Teresa's heart. I pray that it develops and strengthens within her little chest, sans any further complications. The bleeding. I pray that it stops. The ECMO machine. I pray that Teresa gets released from that. Healing. I pray for that!! My "heart" goes out to you, and sweet Beautifully Unique Teresa.
    Sorry. Long comment!! ;)
